My credentials as a legit Spanish sworn translator

You are in need of a legit Spanish sworn translator. You have reached my website, but how can you know that I am actually legit? If this is the first time you work with me, it is undertandable that you want to verify that I am an officially appointed by and registered with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and avoid any issues at submitting your documents and translations to Spanish authorities or at your appointment with a Spanish notary, or with the Spanish Consulate or Embassy if you are applying for a Spanish visa or Spanish nationality.

This blog posts shows two ways in which you can check my credentials as an official and certified Spanish sworn translator.

Legit spanish sworn translator

1. Directory of sworn translators maintained by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

This link takes to you to a recently created Directory of Sworn Translators run by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In order to verify that I am a legit Spanish sworn translator, it is important that you add either my full name or my surname under ‘Apellido’, including the accents (‘PÉREZ ROMÁN’) and check the box ‘Activo” (to verify that I am currently practising as a Spanish sworn translator). Below is a screenshot of the results of the search, accrediting that I am an active, legit Spanish sworn translator:

As you can see from the details shown in the image, I am currently registered with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs under appointment number 4057 (made in 2003) and currently practising as a legit Spanish sworn translator.

2. Government-issued Sworn Spanish translator ID Card

If requested, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues officially-appointed Sworn Spanish translators with an ID card containing details such as:

  • Full name
  • Appointment number
  • Nationality
  • Language for which the sworn translator is appointed
  • Year of appointment
